Who is KimmayJ

Hi, I'm Kimberly! Born and raised in suburban Delaware, I grew up with wide streets and big lawns, while only a short ride away from Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, D.C. Needless to say, I have logged quite a few hours on I-95 seeking out a new cultural experience. I recently moved to Lancaster, PA, which is hopping with farm fresh fruit and veggies, homemade furniture is king, and a bustling art and music scene downtown. I hope to share with you my love for food, film, music, art, and celebrations. I hope to bridge the love of the downtown experience and rural sensibilities, while maintaining what is accessible from any location. I will feature quotes; playlists; event ideas; and book, music, and food reviews!

I've spent what has seemed like an eternity in college, and that used up all of my writing mojo. I have some poetry published in various publications and I am currently working on my first full length novel, in addition to the blog. So, what do I like (besides over sharing my opinion with the interwebs)? Sports. Follow on me on Twitter during baseball season and you will see just how passionate I get about my Philadelphia Phillies. I binge watch television like crazy (though my DVR never seems to fall below 60% filled). Sci-Fi, supernatural shows, and anything Shonda Rhimes gives us that is sure to make me cry is a weakness. I spend a lot of time at the Philadelphia Museum of Art... I also happen to paint a lot and while I prefer oil on canvas I am trying to get with the current millennium and learn how to work some digital magic. My headphones are never out of arms reach and I drive everyone nuts incessantly switching between folk music and punk rock. Here's a secret: I would LOVE to learn the ukelele and do sweet covers of hardcore metal songs. I want to roam the country but my heart belongs to the Northeast I-95 corridor. I instagram all of my food mainly because it helps me remember how old the leftovers are and because food just makes me happy. I prefer the smell of new Converse over the pain of high heels but woah if I don't love a cute dress. Event planning would be my true calling if I hadn't spent so much time in college.

First, and foremost, though, I am a writer no matter what I said college did to me. I started keeping a diary as soon as I could put pencil to paper, and chronicled Desert Storm when I was still in elementary school. As a teenager, I fell in love with poetry and was featurd in several Teen and University publications. Currently, I am working on my first novel (which will be talked about here as we bring it from infancy into its full maturity). Second, I paint to bring life to everything I can't put into words.

So, I will make sure to keep everything nice and labeled and organized so you can find what interests you easily. I hope you learn a few tips, find a new favorite recipe, fall in love with a new song, hate watch that new weird tv show, or just have a laugh. Cheers to the journey and all that is cool in the world!
